Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hand Camp?

Our annual camp is designed for children aged 4 years and older who are born with or experiencing an upper limb difference. Campers can bring up to 3 immediate family members. Camp is designed to be a safe inclusive space for kids to participate in traditional camp activities such as outdoor games and arts & crafts.

How Much Does Camp Cost?

Camp is completely FREE for all families, thanks to the generous support of our donors and sponsors.

Is this camp a good fit for my child?

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the camp is best suited for children who can move around independently and participate in group activities. If you’re not sure whether Hand Camp is the right fit for your child, we’d love to chat and answer any questions you might have! This camp is not designed for children with neurologic disorders such as brachial plexus injuries or cerebral palsy but we would be happy to share some resources for camps designed for them!

Is this a day camp or overnight camp?

We are hosting our first overnight camp this year August 7-9, 2026!

What do you do at camp?

We organize a variety of outdoor activities for all campers. We are currently working on what adventures we will host this year. While the kids are engaged in play, parents participate in adult-only breakout sessions focused on discussing potential challenges and strategies for overcoming them.

Is food provided at camp?

We will provide all meals for camp weekend. If you have any dietary restrictions or special requirements, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate.

Where is camp located?

In 2026, our camp will be hosted at YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch Family Resort in Granby Colorado.

Who volunteers at camp?

Our dedicated volunteers include adults with upper limb differences who serve as inspiring mentors, healthcare professionals, and members of the general public, all working together to support and enrich the camp experience. Background checks are performed on all volunteers.

What should we bring to camp?

Please wear weather appropriate clothing and feel free to bring any items you might need to enjoy outdoor activities, such as hats, sunglasses, or sunscreen.

Will I need to stay with my kids throughout the entire camp, or are there activities where they’ll be supervised separately?

We will have camp counselors that will be supervising the campers while parents are able to have adult-only breakout sessions.

What if my child is under 4 years old?

Throughout the year, we plan to organize gatherings for families with children of all ages called Hand Camp Hangouts. Check out our Events page and RSVP if you can attend!
